It must be noted that unlawfully disconnecting an occupiers electricity can be costly as same will be met with an urgent application for:
- An order in terms of section 14 of the Extension of Security of Tenure Act 62 of 1997 to restore the provision of services to the occupiers, similar to that which was previously enjoyed by them for the duration of their occupation;
- The payment of compensation of an amount the honourable court deems just and equitable;
- The payment of damages including but not limited to damages for suffering or inconvenience caused by the disruption of services of an amount the honourable court deems just and equitable; and
- A cost order against the property owner.
