Melony obtained her LLB in 2001 from the University of Port Elizabeth and was admitted as an attorney in 2003, later qualifying as a conveyancer. Her legal career began at Mosdell Pama & Cox Attorneys, where she gained extensive experience in litigation, deceased estates, land tenure, and conveyancing—particularly in affordable housing and township development.
In 2011, Melony transitioned to local government as Divisional Manager: Legal Services, where she advise council, committees, and senior management on governance, compliance, procurement, by-laws, and code of conduct investigations. Her core strengths lie in legal counsel, litigation, conveyancing, policy development, and ethical governance.
